Carter is a huge Cardinals fan! So it was no surprise that when asked what his one true wish was he said to meet the St. Louis Cardinals, especially Yadier Molina!
Carter's wish day was packed with fun at Busch Stadium and the new Ballpark Village in St. Louis, MO. Carter and his family got the VIP treatment and couldn't imagine how special this day would be for Carter.
Carter's wish day started with a special Busch Stadium tour. Carter had been to the stadium many times but had never seen it like this! After the tour, Carter played catch with his family in the same bullpen that the Cardinals pitchers use during a game! He chose to catch, just like his favorite player Yadier Molina.
After lunch at Ballpark Village, the Director of the new Cardinals Hall of Fame Museum gave Carter and his family a private tour. Carter knew his Cardinals history and even got to hold several game bats used by Yadier Molina and Matt Holliday!
Next was the part of the day that Carter had been waiting for. Shortly after being escorted onto the field during Cardinals batting practice, Mike Matheny, Manager of the St. Louis Cardinals, approached Carter. Matheny posed for pictures and asked Carter who his favorite player was. Carter of course was quick to reply with "Yadier Molina." Since Yadi and some of the other players weren't on the field for batting practice, Matheny took Carter and his brother through the dugout to the locker room...no parents or cameras allowed. Carter returned with a huge smile on his face and some cool Cardinals gear including a wristband from Yadi, a game used bat from Kolten Wong and a signed baseball. The wish could have ended there for Carter...but there was still more!
Carter ran into Fredbird on his way out to throw the first pitch, who also had some Cardinals stuff to give him. Fredbird tried to joke around with Carter, but you could tell his was getting nervous for his big moment. After anxiously waiting, it was time for Carter to throw his pitch. He headed almost all the way to the mound, wound up and threw it to home plate. The crowd cheered loudly for Carter and his great pitch!
To top it all off, Carter and his whole family enjoyed a great game and got to see a Cardinals win!
