Sixteen-year-old Wish Kid LaNiece of St. Louis has a life-threatening medical condition and consequently spends a lot of time at home, making the comfort of home very important. She wished for a bedroom makeover and that wish was granted, thanks to an alliance between Broyhill Furniture – a subsidiary of St. Louis-based Furniture Brands International, Rothman Furniture and Make-A-Wish®Missouri.
Through a national alliance with Make-A-Wish, Broyhill Furniture is helping grant 50 furniture and room-makeover wishes for children with life-threatening medical conditions across the country. Room makeovers are a popular wish request for wish kids; Make-A-Wish fulfills more than 400 room-makeover wishes each year.
"Once we found out about the amount of furniture-related wishes that Make-A-Wish receives, we knew that Broyhill was in a position to help on a national level,” said Mindi Brothers, Director of Marketing, Broyhill Furniture. “All kids want a special room of their own and Broyhill is bringing joy to many children with life-threatening medical conditions with furniture they will enjoy with friends and family for years to come."
Robert Idol, vice president of creative strategy for Furniture Brands, asked LaNiece to describe her style in three words. LaNiece’s reply was “Fun, funky and wild.” With that, Robert worked his magic to design the perfect room for her. LaNiece and her family thoroughly enjoyed working with Broyhill’s team, including Broyhill retailer Rothman Furniture, to pick out the Perspective collection, which matches her style perfectly.
"A wish is a chance for a child like LaNiece to take control over an aspect of her life,” said LuAnn Bott, President and CEO of Make-A-Wish Missouri. “LaNiece spends a lot of time indoors, and it is very important for her room to be one of her favorite places. Our national alliance with Broyhill helps Make-A-Wish® bring joy to the lives of wish kids across the country”.
