Golf Classics - St. Louis & Springfield

As many as 35 future wishes can come true, thanks to the success of our Make-A-Wish golf tournaments in Springfield and St. Louis.

On June 16th, golf teams from across St. Louis teed off at the Country Club of St. Albans.  The weather was perfect for a great day out on the links.   Lunch was served on the course, followed by a special victory banquet and live auction after everyone finished their 18 holes.

On June 23rd, the Millwood Country club hosted this year's Springfield Golf Classic.  An early morning downpour caused lots of concern, but the skies eventually cleared and everyone enjoyed a terrific round of golf.

This year, the Make-A-Wish tournaments enjoyed a new wrinkle--the Sponsors Challenge.  Teams that bought a sponsorship package competed for the low score on the two courses at St. Albans and the one course at Millwood.  The winners qualified for a special tournament in September at Porto Cima, located at the Lake of the Ozarks.  Also included in the tournament was the low scoring sponsor team from the Kansas City Golf Classic, held on June 30th at the Nicklaus Golf Club at LionsGate.

New this year will be a 45 minute Long Drive Trick Show and Exhibition with former Major League Baseball Player, Dan Boever.  Dan is a member of the Pinnacle Extreme Team and a 12-time World Long Driver finalist.  He is known for his amazing repertoire of trick shots including blasting his driver nearly 400 yards or his putter over 300 yards.  Almost every person who has witnessed one of Dan’s shows leaves with a smile on their face and a host of stories to tell.  This will be an amazing show that you won’t want to miss! EMCEE:  Dan McLaughlin

 

Dan McLaughlin enters his tenth year as the play-by-play voice for Cardinals television broadcasts.  He covers all road games and several home games on FSN Midwest, as well as serving as a pre-game host and analyst on FSN broadcasts. Dan has also filled in on Cardinals radio broadcasts. During the baseball off-season, McLaughlin, 34, has worked 12 years as a regular on St. Louis Blues telecasts on FSN Midwest and CW11, and has also been a pregame, intermission and postgame analyst for Blues radio broadcasts. McLaughlin is involved in several local charities as well as hosting “The Dan McLaughlin Golf Tournament to benefit the Special Education Foundation”. Dan and his wife, Libby, make their home in St. Louis with their 2 and a half year old son Luke and 17 month old daughter Avery.
