Joplin, MO (December 19, 2016) - Wish Kid Kurt, 17, who is battling leukemia, will have his wish for a shopping spree granted on Thursday, December 22nd with the help of Make-A-Wish® Missouri and his Joplin community. Kurt’s wish celebration will begin at 12:00pm, as he embarks on the shopping spree of his dreams to purchase each item on his wish list. When asked which stores he wished to visit, Kurt stated, “Ernie Williamson Music, Vintage Stock, and Walmart.”
Kurt is looking forward to purchasing music, instruments, and other items to fuel his passion for music. While Kurt was in the hospital he stated that the only thing that helped him cope through his treatments was learning to play the guitar and listening to music.
Kurt will first shop at Ernie Williamson Music on South Rangeline Road and will then proceed to Vintage Stock and Walmart. He will then enjoy a nice meal at Granny Schaffer’s Restaurant to culminate his wish day.

Since 1983, Make-A-Wish® Missouri has granted wishes to more than 6,000 children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. This year, the local chapter will grant more than 330 wishes.
